Leitrim is among the counties where the least people report worry about climate change in the country with 74% of Leitrim people reporting that they worry about the issue, according to an EPA report.
Other counties in the north-west area like Donegal, Sligo, Cavan, and Monaghan reported the same rate of people worrying about this issue.
The results are based on two surveys that were carried out in 2023, which asked 5,312 people each, around the country their opinions on climate change.
The data shows that Leitrim falls below the national average of 82% of people reporting being worried about climate change.
It also outlined that only 52% of Leitrim people feel that climate change is a problem that is personally important to them with only 58% of people in the county feeling it could cause them personal harm.
Though the survey states that 94% of people in Leitrim believe that climate change will cause harm to future generations, which is only one percent behind the national average.
