House prices are on the up in Leitrim with properties achieving around a 1% increase each month.
However two new national reports, one giving a 20% increase year on year for September, and another citing a 10% increase is causing confusion in the market.
However there is little doubt that things are moving within the county as auctioneers are reporting a surprising number of buyers looking for value. In fact a two bedroom apartment in Carrick-on-Shannon sold in less than ten days last week.
Nonetheless auctioneers are warning that houses are selling below the cost of construction and below the prices that were achieved 12 years ago. It is believed the average house price is now €120,000, 40% above its lowest point.
