Measures are being introduced to change the traffic flow in Carrick-on-Shannon with traffic entering Main Street from the Leitrim Road now prevented from turning right.
In a reply to Cllr Enda Stenson at last Monday's meeting of the Municipal District, it was stated that traffic will be prevented from right turning movements at the Leitrim Road/Main Street junction.
All town centre bound traffic will be diverted to the Fire Station link road. Advance signs will be erected on the approach road with two 'right turn' signs.
'No right turn' road markings will be at the junction itself.
The new layout will commence in November and will be monitored closely.
The Council is trying to encourage heavy vehicles to use the bypass and not go through the town.
The change in traffic flow was welcomed by all councillors.
