Padraig McGarty
On Thursday, October 27th at 8.30pm, Ballinamore Library will host a talk by Padraig McGarty about Leitrim Politics and Society in the period 1912 - 1916.
Padraig is a native of Mohill and he graduated with a BA and MA from University College, Dublin, where he studied history, politics and economics.
He holds an MBS from the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and currently, he is studying for a doctorate at Dublin City University.
He resides in County Kerry and is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Technology, Tralee.
During the talk, he will trace the changing political environment in County Leitrim in the period that preceded the 1916 Rebellion. He will discuss the foundation of the Irish Volunteers in the county, and Leitrim’s response to World War One and the Easter Rising. This is a free event and everyone is welcome.
