The new junction at Edentenny, Ballinamore is now open to free flow traffic.
The traffic lights were removed from the R208 main Ballinamore to Carrick-on-Shannon road and the Ballinamore to Mohill/ Fenagh R202 last Friday evening, December 9.
The works to realign the road commenced in September this year and locals were angry over the delay in road works. However the road re-opened the free flow traffic ahead of Leitrim County Council's Christmas deadline at the weekend.
The new layout has the Fenagh R202 traffic stopping before merging onto the R208 continuous road from Carrick-on-Shannon.
The works were completed following a safety audit.
