The recent Darren McGlynn Tractor Run was a huge success. Over 200 tractors toured the now familiar route, taking in Tarmonbarry, Strokestown, Rooskey, before returning to the McGlynn home in Clonfour for refreshments.
In the blazing September sunshine, the now customary tug-of war took place, as well as the drawing of the prize winners in our prize draw. The top prize of a Charlois heifer was won by Marty Donnelly, Strokestown.
As a result of the tractor run, €22,315 was raised for the Sick Children Fund, a local based charity that assists local sick children.
The proceeds of the run were presented to the Sick Children Fund committee this week.
The 2017 Darren McGlynn Memorial Tractor run was the third running of the event, which has so far raised over €60,000 for various good causes, including 'Mark's Wish to Walk', Co Longford SCUBA Divers/Search and Rescue, Pieta House West and the Sick Children Fund.
The Darren McGlynn Memorial Tractor Run committee would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who made the event a huge success. Thank you to the many sponsors, to Ventura Marquee Hire who again provided a marquee for the weekend, to the marshalls, stewards, caterers, ticket sellers, tractor drivers, and to the whole community who made the event so enjoyable again this year.
