Country music singer, Philomena Begley, will be signing copies of her autobiography Philomena Begley: My Life, My Music, My Memories, on Wednesday, November 22, at 3pm in Mulvey’s House of Gifts, Carrick-on-Shannon.
As the front woman of Country Flavour, the Ramblin’ Men and Shotgun and as a solo artiste, Philomena Begley has long been Ireland’s Queen of Country.
She joined the Old Cross Céili Band at barely twenty years of age and became a household name with her 1975 breakout single, ‘Blanket on the Ground’.
Philomena takes us from her happy beginnings as a bread-man’s daughter in Pomeroy through the devastating loss of her brother Patsy and the risks of touring Ireland at the height of the Troubles, right up to her fiftieth anniversary in show business in 2012 – her ‘gold and silver days’.
In her eagerly-awaited autobiography, the world-renowned Irish country singer who for more than five decades has entertained global audiences with her songs, her humour and her generous heart, tells her story.
With her characteristic warmth and down-to-earth approach, Philomena reveals the highs and lows of her journey from the céili halls of Tyrone to the bright lights of Nashville and beyond!
