Breastcheck has a new location in Sligo

Following receipt of a number of proposed alternative sites for the BreastCheck mobile unit in Sligo, the BreastCheck management team examined each site in accordance with the programme’s site selection criteria. 
  
BreastCheck is happy to report that a suitable site has been located at the Homecare Pharmacy on Pearse Road in Cornageeha. 
  
This location meets all of BreastCheck’s criteria, including the need for confidentiality and discretion which, based upon feedback from our service users, is an important element for women who attend for breast screening. 
  
The organisation would like to thank all those who came forward with offers of support for an alternative location, in particular public representatives, local business leaders and members of the public. 
  
It is expected to commence screening at this new site in early June.  In the interim, BreastCheck will continue to provide screening to women in Tubbercurry, as we do not wish to delay women’s mammogram appointments.  All women have also been offered the option to wait until the new site is in operation, however most are keen to have their mammogram as soon as possible.
