Polling turnout is running at around 10% in Co Leitrim

Early footfall 'steady' at Offaly polling stations as country votes on abortion referendum

Voter turnout is starting to pick up this morning across Co Leitrim with county turnout averaging at around 10% at present.

Turnout in rural areas remains lower but many urban areas are seeing a rise in voting numbers as lunchtime approaches.

The latest figures are as follows:

Carrick-on-Shannon - 12%
Drumkeerin - 9.5%
Kinlough - 12%
Tullaghan - 11% (at 11am)
Mohill - 14%
