Outbreak of mumps in the North West

An outbreak of mumps has hit the counties of  Leitrm, Sligo and Donegal.

So far locally there have been over 20 reported cases this year with four of those cases having been confirmed in the last week.

45 people alone have been affected with the condition recently in West of Ireland alone.

There were 319 cases across the country recorded in the whole of last year.

The HSE is encouraging all parents to ensure that children are up to date with their MMR vaccines.
