Not guilty of assault causing harm

A Polish national was found not guilty of assault causing harm to another man when he appeared before Judge John Aylmer at Carrick-on-Shannon Circuit Court last week.

Kamil Kijana, 20 The Paddocks, Carrick-on- Shannon, Co Leitrim was charged with a Section 3 assault of 52-year-old Latvian national, Armands Cerbikovas, 18 Maigh Glas, Lis Cara, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim on July 9, 2016.

Mr Kijana had been residing at the home of Mr Cerbikovas at the time.

Mr Kijana pleaded not guilty to the offence before a jury of seven men and five women.

Pat O'Sullivan BL, instructed by Martin Burke solicitors appeared on behalf of the defendant. Donal Keane BL, instructed by Noel Farrell solicitor, appeared on behalf of the State.
