UPDATE: 10 more Covid-19 deaths reported for Sunday, May 17

One-third of us obsessively check for Covid-19 updates every day

The latest update on Covid-19 deaths released this evening, Sunday, May 17, have confirmed a further 10 people have died as a result of the virus in Ireland.

In good news the number of infections continues to decline with 64 confirmed new cases of the virus in the last 64 hours.

However, people are warned against complacency. Although some services are restarting and businesses are reopening, the threat of Covid-19 remains. No vaccine has yet been found and there is a significant risk, if people start to ignore social distancing and the rules governing trips away from their home, there will be a resurgence in cases and the total lockdown of the country will return.

People are reminded that you should only leave your home for essential trips and you should never travel long distances unless you are an excused essential services employee required to do so for work reasons or, for essential medical treatment.
