The girls took it upon themselves to help the local charity

Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre received a very special visit this week from three local girls who had a very special gift.

Ruby Higgins and her two wonderful friends, Shae and Kate, presented the centre with a donation of €320!

The three raised the money by setting up a book club in Carrick-on-Shannon Post Office in support of animal welfare services and charities.

The Animal Welfare centre took to Facebook to thank the young girls:

“At such a young age, these three girls have shown incredible kindness, generosity and compassion for animals who cannot speak for themselves.”

“What wonderful role models for the younger generation! They are an absolute credit to their families and their community, and it's young people like Ruby, Shae and Kate who give us so much hope for the future of animal welfare.”

“From all of us at Leitrim Animal Welfare, THANK YOU, GIRLS! Your hard work and generosity will make a real difference to the animals in our care.”

“Little hands, BIG hearts, and a whole lot of kindness!”
