McGuinness leads Mohill to impressive victory

Another fantastic win for Mohill Mavericks in the Lonleitros Basketball league at the Topline Community Hub Sports Complex before a large home crowd.

In a tight first quarter Sligo led 22-18 with Fiachra McGuinness, Cian McGuinness, Tadhg Mulligan & Shane McGowan all on target for Mohill.

In the second quarter, Mohill took control with 18 points to lead 36-35 at the interval, led by some fantastic shooting from Fiachra McGuinness and great work under the board by Liam Rowley and Cian McGuinness.

In the third quarter Mohill introduced A McGuinness and Conor Quinn who played some brilliant basketball with some great interceptions. Fiachra McGuinness was on fire scoring three pointers to take the lead 61-47.

In the final quarter Mohill closed out the game comfortably, winning 81-55 with Fiachra McGuinness top scoring with 42 points. All in all another top class victory for the home fans to celebrate.

This leaves Mohill in fourth place behind Athlone, Castlerea, Donegal town after 11 games with two games in hand so Mohill are still with a shout for league honours.

Sligo Leitrim & District Soccer Fixtures & Results

Carrick Town's Mona Lowe, Caragh Guckian, Amy McKeon, Ornaith Guckian, Anna Trench Winston and Katie O'Brien who were members of the Sligo Leitrim U12 Girls Emerging Talent Interleague team who defeated Donegal 4-0 last Sunday in Letterkenny.

Team: F McGuinness 42, C McGuinness 21, T Mulligan 12, S McGowan 6, C Quinn 12, L Rowley, A McGuinness, A Tuthill, J Farrell, E Kenny.

Also another great result for Mohill Ladies with a 66-33 win over Longford Phoenix to leave them second in the League.
