Leitrim Lions Club, FoodCloud and Tesco Ireland are asking shoppers to support families in need by donating a food item during a two-day Christmas Food Appeal, which will take place on Friday, 25th and Saturday, 26th November between 11am – 7.30pm in Tesco Carrick-on-Shannon and Tesco Ballinamore.
In the last three years alone the annual Christmas Food Appeal has collected over €500,000 worth of food for families.
Over €4,000 worth of food was donated by Leitrim shoppers in 2015, and this year the appeal is hoping to build on this success and support as many families in need as possible by providing hampers of non-perishable food items in the run-up to Christmas.
To support the Christmas Food Appeal and give a little help to families in need, please visit your local Tesco store on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th November between 11am – 7.30pm and make a food donation – Every Little Helps!
All food collected during the appeal in Tesco stores will be sorted by volunteers from FoodCloud’s partner charities and the 115 Lions Clubs spread throughout the country, who will redistribute food parcels to those who need them most. A number of charitable organisations will benefit from this year’s food appeal. Here in Leitrim, St. Vincent de Paul will distribute the food throughout the county.
Shoppers can donate one or more of the following non perishable items in their local Tesco store:
Tea bags & Instant coffee, Biscuits, Sugar, Butter, Breakfast Cereals, Tinned goods (vegetables, fruit, fish, soup, meat), Pasta & Pasta Sauces, Rice & Rice Pudding, Jam, Soft drinks Sweet Treats, Selection Boxes, Christmas Cake, etc.
Please pop an extra item in your shopping and donate it to our trolleys which will be located inside the door of your local Tesco store.
