Members of Leitrim County Council approved the Budget for 2017 in Carrick-on-Shannon today.
The council's budget will be just over €33million for 2017 to cover services and staff in Leitrim, the total has increased €1million on the 2016 budget.
There will be no increase in commercial rates or property tax next year, however a national revevaluation process of rateable businesses is due next Summer.
Income to the council will be hit next year in a number ways including increased insurance costs, staff pay increases and costs towards Leitrim Enterprise Office.
Discretionary spending will be kept low but the council have a number of big projects planned for the county such as a new library management service, upgrade of fire stations, new council houses, rural water programme and 30 housing estates to be taken in charge amongst others.
