Leitrim deaths - Thursday, March 9, 2023

James Patchell, Cois Abhainn, Leitrim Village, Co. Leitrim formerly St. James' Terrace, Dolphin’s Barn, Dublin 8 - 7th March 2023 (peacefully) surrounded by his loving family, at Sligo University Hospital. Predeceased by his son John, brothers Richard and Johnny, sister Dolores. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife Maura, sons Anthony (Tipperary), Warren (Leitrim Village),James Jnr (Sligo), daughters Anna Kelly (London), Samantha Tyrrell (Kildare), Verona Halfteck (Essex), daughter-in-law Kay, sons-in-law George, Ken and David, Warren's partner Janet, grandchildren Eli, Harry, Pippa, Orlaith, Darragh, Sarah, James Jnr, Anthony Jnr, Séan, Glen and Kurt, great-grandchildren Tori and Aria, brothers William, Joseph and Larry (Dublin), sisters Rosaleen (Australia), Margaret (Canada), Nora and Mary (Dublin), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends in Leitrim and Dublin. James will repose on Thursday 9th from 5-7pm in Rom Massey’s & Sons, Funeral Home, Dolphin’s Barn, South Circular Road, Dublin 8. Eircode (DO8 N2X7). Funeral Mass on Friday morning 10th at 11am in Our Lady of Dolours Church, Dolphin’s Barn, followed by burial in Palmerstown Cemetery. 

Tom Gibbons, Portmarnock, Dublin / Strokestown, Roscommon - Gibbons, Tom, (Portmarnock, Dublin and formerly of Clooneybeirne, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon) (Late of An Garda Síochána) - 5th March 2023, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Talbot Lodge Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family, beloved husband of Kay. Predeceased by his parents John and Kate, sisters Una, Nellie and Caith, and brother John. Very sadly missed by his loving wife, daughters Ciara and Kathryn, son John, son-in-law Chris, Kathryn’s partner Brian, John’s partner Ieva, grandchildren Rian and Kate, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. Reposing at Stafford’s Funeral Home, Golf Links Road, Portmarnock on Thursday (March 9th) from 3pm to 5pm. Removal to St. Anne’s Church, Portmarnock on Friday morning, 10th March, for 10am Funeral Mass followed by burial in Balgriffin Cemetery Extension. Family flowers only please. Mary Nerney (née Mollahan), Windmill Road, Elphin, Roscommon - 5th March, 2023, suddenly, at Sligo University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her granddaughter Eleni and her mother Julia. Mary will be very sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband Michael, children Michelle (Wexford) and Richard, father Frank, son-in-law David, adored grandchildren Sam and Scott, brothers Pat and Frank, sister Julia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and work colleagues. Removal from her home on Thursday morning to St. Patrick’s Church, Elphin, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.30am. Mary will be laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Patrick McGloin, formerly of Lisahully, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal - Peacefully at the Ballyshannon Community Nursing Unit. Predeceased by his brother Brendan. Patrick will be forever remembered by his brother and sisters; Madge (Michael RIP), Frankie (Kathleen), Charlie (Margaret), Kevin (Mary), Tony (Regina), Loretta (Tony), Noel (Earnest), Carmel (Frank), Oliver (Bernie), nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Removal from the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10.30am to arrive in St. Patrick's Church, Ballyshannon for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am with interment in the Abbey Assaroe Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if so desired, to the Ballyshannon Community Nursing Unit c/o Patrick McKenna Funeral Directors, Ballyshannon. Mary McManus (née O'Neill) Soran, Ballinalee, Longford / Kerry - Formerly of Knockanish, The Spa, Co. Kerry - Mary passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and in the care of the staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, on March 6th 2023. She is predeceased by her husband Christy, sister Peggy and nephew Michael. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family, daughters and son Catherine, Mary, Liz and Tom, daughter-in-law Catherine, sons-in-law, her adored grandchildren Michael, Raymond, Tina, Eva, Shane, Luke, Oisín and Cara, granddaughter-in-law Ruth, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends especially James Wrenn (Kerry). Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church St., Longford, N39 P0E8, on Thursday 9th, from 6pm, concluding with prayers at 8pm. Removal from her son and daughter-in-law Tom and Catherine's home on Friday 10th for funeral mass at 12 noon, in St Mary's Church, Ennybegs, followed with burial in St. Emer's Cemetery, Ballinalee.
