The new team is part of a series of Football Social Responsibility (FSR) activities and programmes.

It was a momentous night for Sligo Rovers last Wednesday night with the first training session of the club's newly formed club Down syndrome Futsal team. The team is made up of male and female players from Sligo and further afield and along with training sessions they will represent the club at future competitions, blitzes and matches.
The new team is part of a series of Football Social Responsibility (FSR) activities and programmes designed to build upon Rovers long track record as a club at the heart of the community, both in Sligo and the North West as a whole.
Sligo Rovers FSR officer Jamie Murphy said "We are absolutely delighted to be in a position to set up the team and are very grateful to the everyone in the Football For All department of the FAI for their support and the help of Down Syndrome Sligo.
A key part of Football Social Responsibility is to foster and promote a culture of inclusion and diversity within clubs and we are delighted to be a part of that. Football clubs are about much more that what happens on the pitch and Sligo Rovers aims to continue to be a leading club in terms of the work we off the pitch.  The club belongs to everyone."
