Almost half a million euro in funding for Leitrim community centres

€491,534 of funding from the 2024 Community Centre Investment Fund will go towards six community centres in Leitrim to enhance their infrastructure and amenities.

Almost half a million euro in funding for Leitrim community centres

Funding of €491,534 has been allocated for the renovation and enhancement of community centres across Leitrim.

The funding comes from the  and will support upgrades in six community centres, including roof and insulation improvements, as well as kitchen and toilet refurbishments.

Ballinamore Community Hall will receive €66,366 for heating upgrades, solar PV modules and additional matrix seats in the theatre.

Fenagh Community Centre will be granted €75,550 for energy efficiency improvements.

Gortletteragh GAA Community Centre is set to receive €93,161 for renovations, including works to the toilets, kitchen, doors, walls and ceilings.

Killenummery Community Centre will receive €89,677 for external wall insulation and kitchen and bathroom upgrades.

The Rossinver Parish Old School House in Kinlough will get €66,780 to improve heating, lighting, ventilation, windows, doors, insulation, kitchen and toilet facilities.

Drumshanbo Community Centre will receive the largest allocation of €100,000 for renovation works.

Sligo-Leitrim TD Frank Feighan has welcomed the funding, emphasising that it will enhance sustainability and accessibility in community spaces.

“Community centres play an essential role in bringing our communities together. Whether it’s local meetings, celebrations, or classes for children or retired people, our community centres in Leitrim have always been a central point in every town and village for people to come together.

“Communities across Leitrim will now be empowered to make the changes they need to their community centres to ensure they are up to a high standard,” he said.

Deputy Feighan also acknowledged funding for heating infrastructure and additional seating at the Island Theatre in Ballinamore, praising its “hard-working committee.”

“This funding is aimed at the heart of our communities in Leitrim, and I look forward to seeing the completed works,” concluded Deputy Feighan.
