The Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre are seeking foster homes for eight of their dogs while the shelter's kennels are being refurbished.
Foster owners would need to keep the animals just until the refurbishment works are finished on the 3rd of November.
The ideal candidate would be an adult-only, cat-free home in Leitrim or the surrounding areas, as this would make the transition as easy as possible for the animals. Also, a secure garden is preferable.

“We don’t often place our dogs in foster care (as returning to the shelter can be confusing for them after bonding with their foster families), this short-term help will make a huge difference while we upgrade their spaces,” the Animal Welfare Centre posted on Facebook.
“If you can open your home and heart to one of our dogs for the next couple of weeks, please get in touch … Thank you for your support, with your help we can make this temporary move as comfortable as possible for our four-legged friends!”
The dogs are larger breeds with some coming in pairs. Anyone interested in helping out can get in touch with the centre by emailing adoption@leitrimanimalwelfare.ie or by calling 085 864 5366 to find out more.
