Significant cabinet changes took place on November 18 following the departure of Paschal Donohoe from his role as Minister for Finance to take up a new position at the World Bank.
In the wake of this move, several TDs were assigned new responsibilities, including Sligo–Leitrim TD Frank Feighan, who has been appointed Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure as part of the cabinet reshuffle.
Minister Feighan previously served as Fine Gael’s Spokesperson on Northern Ireland and UK Relations.
He has expressed his “great honour” at returning as a Minister of State. “I was honoured to accept this important portfolio and return as a Minister of State role within the coalition Government.
“I now look forward to driving the Programme for Government under the headings of public procurement, digitalisation and eGovernment.

“In particular, I look forward to achieving better public services, which is the public sector’s commitment to working together to provide inclusive, high-quality and integrated services that meet people’s needs and improve their lives,” said Minister Feighan.
He last served as a Minister of State from 2020 to 2022, when he held responsibility for Public Health, Well Being and the National Drugs Strategy.
“I look forward to implementing a number of key elements on the Programme for Government which include ensuring the integration of digital services across Government departments and the establishment of a single digital unit to enhance the delivery of public services online.
“It is vital to support the work of the Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service (IGEES) to provide critical economic and value-for-money analysis,” he added.
“I am proud to represent the people of Sligo, Leitrim and South Donegal, I received an enhanced mandate back in 2024 to continue to deliver for the people of this region.

“I will continue to do that with focus and energy, as a Minister in Government and in the department of public expenditure I will continue to highlight the much-needed infrastructural improvements for the North West region and hopefully I can do more to deliver those ambitions for the region,” concluded Minister Feighan.
