RIP:  Father-of-three is lovingly remembered after passing away unexpectedly

Messages of condolences are pouring in for Emmett Downey, 30 Milbrook, Kinlough, Co. Leitrim and formerly of Greenlough, Co. Derry, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on the 28th January 2026.

Emmett was the beloved husband of Marie and adored father of Eoin, Rian and Christopher.

Emmett will forever be loved and sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, parents Eamon and Anne, brothers Seamus (Geraldine) and Paul (Charlene), his sisters Martina (Liam), Brenda (Mark) and Denise (Sean), his mother-in-law Margaret, brothers-in-law Patrick, Michael (Emer) and Shane (Megan), sister-in-law Geraldine (Sean) and all his many nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

One poster said: "My sincere sympathies to you and the boys on the sudden death of Emmett. May he rest in peace. Remembering you in my thoughts and prayer. May God strengthen you at this time."
Another offered "deepest condolences to Marie and boys and all of Emmet's extended family on the sad passing of Emmet. May he rest in peace."

Emmett will be reposing at his home, 30 Millbrook, Kinlough (F91P8R2) on Friday (30th Jan) from 2pm to 8pm. All welcome.

House private at all other times please.

Removal from his late residence on Saturday morning (31st Jan) at 10.30am to arrive at St. Aidan’s Church, Kinlough for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am.

Removal afterwards to St. Aidan’s Cemetery, Kinlough for a burial service.

Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Emmett to The Irish Heart Foundation care of donation box at family home/church or to Breslin’s Funeral Home, Bundoran.
