Planning permission has been granted to the Board of Management of Gaelscoil Chluainín in Manorhamilton for the construction of a new building on Creamery Road with a wide range of facilities.
The decision was made by Leitrim County Council on December 18.
The primary school is currently located on Castle Street in Manorhamilton and first opened its doors in 2007.
The development will include a new 1,419.70m² two-storey primary school building on a greenfield site.
This will comprise five classrooms, a GP hall, one special educational needs base, support teaching spaces and a staff room.
There will be comprehensive changes outside the building also.
There will be new pedestrian and vehicle entrances, an access road with set-down areas, a pedestrian crossing on Creamery Road, a car park, hard and soft play areas, cycle storage, a bin storage and service compound, an electricity substation, landscaping, site signage, and all boundary treatments.
The new building is expected to be opened in 2026.
