Cheque presentation of €1,420 to the Irish Pilgrimage Trust in Newtownmanor Hall from left: Shane Loughlin, Sharon’s brother; Philomena Dolan, Mary Clancy, Angela and John Loughlin, Sharon's parents.
On Sunday July 1, 2018, a large crowd took part in the annual Sharon Loughlin 5k and 8k Fun Walk around the scenic Newtownmanor near Dromahair.
Sharon Loughlin RIP, who sadly passed away on September 7, 2013, was just 24 years old. She had travelled as a guest with The Irish Pilgrimage Trust annual Easter Pilgrimage to Lourdes and had also joined the Friendship Week special holiday in Kilcuan, Clarinbridge, Galway.
As they have every year since Sharon’s death, her parents John and Angela Loughlin organise a very special annual memorial event with the kind support of Newtownmanor Community Development Association, a local organisation formed in 2007 to promote, enhance and develop existing community and facilities in their area.
On Sunday, February 3, 2019 Sharon’s parents along with Newtownmanor Community Development Association and the local community gathered in the local Hall after Mass where refreshments were enjoyed and a presentation of €1,420 was made to Mary Clancy from The Irish Pilgrimage Trust; the proceeds from the 2018 Sharon Loughlin Fun Walk.
This is a wonderful tribute to all involved and to late Sharon’s memory. The Irish Pilgrimage Trust is very grateful to the Sharon’s family and the Newtownmanor community for its support.
Meantime the church gate collection for the Irish Pilgrimage Trust will be taken up at North Leitrim church gates at Mass times on Saturday evening, February 16 and Sunday morning, February 17.
