Leitrim's Acorn Players heading for Dublin

Members of the Acorn Players Theatre Group Ann Macklin and Phillip Flood, are pictured in a scene from Loophole.

The Acorn Players based in Mohill are a tough bunch of individuals. All hold down day jobs with long hours and big responsibilities yet they travel the country, help erect and take down the set, do the make-up, take care of the sound, all for enjoyment and to entertain the masses.
Already this year, the group has performed Loophole fourteen times in Leitrim, Sligo, Westmeath and Cavan. This Saturday they will take to the stage in The Mill Theatre, Dundrum and all Leitrim people in Dublin are invited to come there on Saturday, February 9 and bring their friends and neighbours.
The Acorn Players are the only group who have performed this new comedy by John McManus and the audience reaction after every performance has been phenomenal. “The funniest play I have ever seen” is repeated again and again by those who have watched it.
John McManus is the author of Loophole. He is a very talented comic writer having written the very successful, The Quare Land and Danger Money. He has corroborated with Seamus O Rourke on numerous occasions.
The old reliable Acorns actors are all involved in this play, Phillip Flood, Padraig McLoughlin, Martina Harte and Anella McGuinness and newcomers Ann Macklin, Rosie Kiernan, James Grimes and Orla Redican are all seasoned thespians, so a great night of comedy is guaranteed in Dundrum on Saturday night, February 9.
