Man involved in Mayo E-scooter accident has died

A man who was involved in an E-scooter accident in Castlebar on Monday has passed away in Mayo University Hospital.

He has been named locally as Thomas (Tom) Coady. He was in his fifties and was living in the county town for some years, having moved back to Mayo from the United States.

Mr Coady was brought to Mayo University Hospital after the accident but passed away in the intensive care unit yesterday evening (Tuesday).

It is expected that the Coroner for Mayo, Patrick O'Connor, will carry out a post mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

An autopsy is also expected to be carried out today.
