Cannabis herb with an estimated value of approximately €80,000 was discovered and seized
A man is being questioned by gardai following a significant drugs seizure in Dublin earlier this week.
As part of Operation Tara, gardaí from the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) conducted a planned search of a residential property located in the Fortunestown area of Dublin 24 on Tuesday.
"During the search, cannabis herb with an estimated value of approximately €80,000 was discovered and seized," confirmed a spokesperson.
Subsequently, a male in his 40s was arrested and he is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a garda station in the Dublin Region.
Gardai say the drugs which were seized will undergo analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The focus of Operation Tara, which was officially launched in July 2021, is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
Since its launch, there have been numerous searches, seizures and arrests at locations across the country.
