A young man has died after a road crash in Co Sligo overnight.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the crash at Drimina, Tubbercurry, Co Sligo in the early hours of this morning, Saturday, October 26.

The single-vehicle collision, involving a car, occurred at approximately 3.45am on the R294.

The driver of the car, a man (20s), was killed.

"The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination," gardaí said.

"The road is currently being examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and remains closed with local diversions in place."

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 2am and 4am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
