Ruby Lowe, Aine Lyons and coach Mairead Lyons
Carrick-on-Shannon Gymnastics Club had a very successful outing to the National Apparatus Finals at the National Indoor Arena in Abbottstown recently.
Congratulations to Aine Lyons & Faith Lynott who both medalled at the recent Gymnastics National Apparatus Final in The National Sports Centre, Dublin. Three Carrick gymnasts took part in the event which featured approx. 1000 gymnasts taking part over the weekend.
Faith competed on Saturday at level 4 on Bars and Vault. She did a great routine on Bars but it was on Vault that she really shone - taking the bronze medal. She set the standard for Ruby Lowe and Aine for the next day.
Ruby was competing at level 5 on Beam and Floor. She did excellent routines gaining a bonus mark on beam for her split leap. She lay in first place for a lot of the competition but finished a very credible 5th place overall.
Aine competed on Floor, Bars and Vault at level 7. She was really happy with her floor landing all her somersaults and flips and finished in 5th place. She completed her upstart (a new move she has been working on) on bars but again it was vault where she found success. Gold medal and All Ireland champion.
Well done to all the girls for the hard work that it takes to get to this point, your coaches and parents are proud of you. Thanks to Mairead, Mary and Helen who travelled.
