A new music programme featuring the cream of entertainers from The Wild Atlantic Way, including Leitrim, will broadcast on TG4 this Sunday.
‘Wild Atlantic Way: A Musical Journey’ features traditional musicians, dancers, singers and folk groups from Mayo, Leitrim, Galway and Sligo. Recorded in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, Co. Mayo and are presented by Henry McGlade of TV Ireland and Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile of TG4.
This Sunday’s programme, the third in the series, features some of Leitrim’s best-known musicians, singers and dancers will air on TG4 at 8.30pm. This episode features top trad group Garadice (Newtowngore), singer songwriter Charlie McGettigan of Drumshambo as well as award-winning trad singer Fionnuala Maxwell of Drumsna.
The episode will also see performances from Belhavel Trad Group (Killargue), Gan Ainm Folk Group (Carrick-On-Shannon) and Lorraine Sweeney, Breda Shannon and Shane Meehan Trad Trio (Sweetwood). This Leitrim focused episode will be repeated on Wednesday, 28th June at 7.30pm.
The final show features some fantastic Galway talent and this episode will be shown on TG4 on Sunday July 2. It will feature singer-songwriter Ultan Conlon, Back West Trad Group, traditional singer Caitriona Ní Cheannabháin, Leo Moran and Padraig Stevens, and The Whileaways.
‘Wild Atlantic Way: A Musical Journey’ will air over a number of weeks, starting on Sunday, June 25 at 8.30pm on TG4 and on the TG4 Player.
