The North Leitrim Women’s Centre has been awarded €22,376 under the Heritage Council’s 2025 Community Heritage Grant Scheme for its ongoing project, ‘Leitrim Women Through Time.’
The funding is part of a wider €1.9 million allocation supporting 132 community heritage projects across Ireland. In total, heritage initiatives in Sligo received over €116,000, with the North Leitrim project being the only Leitrim-based recipient announced in this round.
The Leitrim Women Through Time initiative documents and celebrates the contributions of Leitrim women to the county’s social, cultural, and historical development by providing an interactive museum of vintage and antique.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister Marian Harkin praised local efforts: “I am absolutely delighted to see the recognition and support for the heritage organisations in Sligo and Leitrim. These projects demonstrate a deep commitment to preserving the unique identity of our communities and ensuring our local heritage remains a living, celebrated part of everyday life.”
