Carrick RFC U15s through to Connacht Cup Semi-Final after narrow win

Carrick-on-Shannon RFC's U15 team defeated Galway Bay RFC on a scoreline of 17-12 in the Connacht Cup quarter final on the astroturf at Creggs last Sunday.

Both teams were evenly matched in a hard fought, bruising game but Carrick proved the stronger team playing the better rugby.

Galway Bay took the lead with a converted try on nine minutes but on 14 minutes, it was 7 all after a try by Alastair Hewson which was converted by Jack Moolick.

Moolick then scored a try to make it 12-7. On 32 minutes Iarlaith Martin scored Carrick's third try, unconverted, leaving the score at 17-7.

Galway Bay replied with their own unconverted try leaving five points between the sides and all to play for. The rest of the match was played in the Galway Bay half but good defending deprived Carrick of any further scores.

Carrick now meet their old adversaries Creggs in a home semi final next Saturday. Club supporters are asked to keep an eye on Facebook for updates including kick off time.
