Met Eireann has issued a wind warning

A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Leitrim and four other counties, with Met Éireann warning of difficult travelling conditions in the evening and into Sunday. 

The national forecaster warns of sustained strong and gusty westerly winds veering northwesterly, coupled with large coastal waves.

It also warns of winds peaking on Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Potential impacts include: Wave overtopping and/or spray; Difficult travelling conditions especially near the coast; Some fallen trees

The warning is in place from Saturday through  to 14:00 Sunday, December 22nd. 

In addition to Leitrim, Galway, Donegal, Mayo and Sligo also have a wind alert warning in place.
