Don't miss this lecture next Wednesday, February 20 in the Bush Hotel.
Following up on her presentation a couple of years ago, Susan Curran, archaeologist and IRC-funded PhD researcher at the School of Archaeology at UCD, will update the Carrick-on-Shannon and District Historical Society with recent findings and theories that have developed since the initial publication of her MA thesis.
That thesis examined early medieval settlement in Leitrim and Roscommon through the use of LiDAR and GIS.
Ms Curran is currently undertaking a PhD in Archaeology with UCD School of Archaeology (supervised by Dr Stephen Davis) funded by the Irish Research Council.
Commencing in October 2013, the project is entitled: Hidden Depths and Empty Spaces? A remote sensing approach to the exploration of settlement patterns, identity and social hierarchy in early medieval Ireland (AD400-1100).
This Historical Society talk takes place in the Bush Hotel on Wednesday, February 20 at 8.30pm.
Admission is €5, or free to society members, and the public is welcome.
