Students of Drumshanbo Vocational School who have formed a traditional group Bréifne Abú, will compete in this year's coveted Siansa Gael Linn Music competition, in the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan on February 14.

Siansa is one of the country's most prestigious competitions for young traditional Irish music and singing groups. Organised by Gael Linn and supported by RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and Irish Music Magazine, the competition provides a platform for talented teenage groups who aim to emulate groups such as Sligo's Téada, Altan and many more.
The Leitrim school features an array of multi-instrumentalists who are delighted to represent their school and dust off the restraints that Covid 19 brought the last few years. They will perform a 10 - 12 minute continuous performance featuring Jigs, a Planxty, Reels, and a song as Gaeilge.
The group conducted by their teachers Aidan Shannon and Fiachra Guihen entered the competition by producing a recording that was adjudicated over the Christmas period and have now reached the regional finals.
They will have the opportunity to work with adjudicator Damien Masterson of "Moving hearts" and "Riverdance" and Niamh Ni Charra of " Riverdance also" when in Monaghan.
