WATCH: Seventh candidate elected for Leitrim county council as counting heads into early hours

'I am humbled. People put their trust in me and that is very important.'

The seventh councillor for Leitrim's incoming county council cohort has been elected in the Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Mary Bohan, a Fianna Fáil candidate for Manorhamilton LEA is the second councillor chosen after Independent, James Gilmartin this Saturday evening.

Upon her re-election, Ms Bohan said: "I am humbled. People put their trust in me and that is very important."

Ms Bohan saw re-election after votes from Independent, Diarmuid McConville (37), Labour, Bernie Linnane (111) and Green Party, Blaithin Gallagher (132) were distributed.

Eliminated in this count was Caitriona Bergin and her surplus 335 votes will now be distributed.
