Church Street, Carrigallen
Residents of Church Street in Carrigallen have been unable to park in their own backyards because others have blocked the entrance with their vehicles, the Ballinamore Municipal District has heard.
Cllr Paddy O’Rourke asked that Ballinamore M.D. provide double yellow lines at the junction on the L1565-0 road, along with yellow boxes at private dwellings to indicate that parking is not allowed
“There’s a good few new people living on the street, each with one or two cars and when they come home they can’t access their own backyard parking because people in the village for one reason or another are parked in their driveway,” Cllr O’Rourke said.
He commented that parking behind their homes is important for the safety of their vehicles.
A reply from the Roads department stated that the District Office can install double yellow lines at this junction as an executive function under road safety.
District engineer Darragh O’Boyle also noted that yellow boxes can be replenished at dwellings.
