Music has long been known to support mental and emotional wellbeing, offering moments of calm in otherwise stressful times.

For Manorhamilton based woman Celine Kilcoyne, it’s also the foundation of a new community-focused project she describes as “a dream” years in the making.

Celine, a life coach with experience in workshops, corporate events, and keynote speaking, is launching Spark Joy, Enrich Lives, Refresh Minds – a series of events designed to connect people of all ages through music.

The initiative, which she says has been shaped by her own experiences with mental health, aims to create space for joy, expression, and connection.

“This all stems from a dream to create opportunities for people to come together and have fun,” she said. “I wanted to create something tangible that would be measurable instantly.”

“Music automatically elevates you and you feel better,” she added.

The events are intended to be inclusive, with a focus on accessibility for all ages and abilities. Celine is particularly interested in reaching people living with dementia, noting the powerful role music can play in memory and mood.

“It’s an open invitation for people to leave feeling great and creating within the body life-enhancing hormones. It’s an antidote to stress,” she explained.

With many older people's groups on pause during the summer, Celine sees this as an opportunity to fill a gap in social connection.

“It doesn’t matter where you come from in the world, there’s a need for connection and to feel good. That was the whole emphasis for this, that we’re all the same.”

She’s currently gauging interest and locations for the upcoming sessions and is inviting people in Leitrim and beyond to get in touch if they’d like to take part. A playlist of upbeat, motivational music is already prepared.

“In essence, this is coming from my heart without a doubt,” she said.
