Leitrim will face 2022 All-Ireland finalists Wexford in the quarter-finals of the TG4 LGFA All-Ireland Intermediate Championship on Sunday July 9, at a Wexford venue after the draws were made by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association on Monday afternoon.
Leitrim's place in the quarter-finals was confirmed on Sunday after Kildare scored a 2-8 to 0-3 victory over Louth which would mean that Jonny Garrity's side could face any team from Antrim, Wexford and Clare with the Model County coming out of the hat first.
If Leitrim defeat Wexford, they will face the winners of the Kildare and Tyrone quarter-final while Ulster champions Antrim take on provincial rivals Monaghan and Clare host Westmeath.
The Green & Gold actually faced Wexford in the group stages of the Intermediate Championship last year in Enniscorthy, the home side winning 3-10 to 2-11 in the final game of the group, by which stage Leitrim were already out of contention. Wexford subsequently went on a run to the All-Ireland final, defeating Tyrone in the quarter-final before hammering Roscommon in the semi-final.
They eventually lost out to Laois in the All-Ireland by two points. In this year's All-Ireland championship, they defeated Roscommon 0-11 to 1-7 in the first round before seeing off Monaghan 3-8 to 1-9. In the Leinster championship, Kildare defeated the Model County 2-12 to 1-8 in the Final after defeating Westmeath in the semi-final.
Fixture confirmation will be made later.
