Deaths in Donegal

Margaret (Rita) Doherty, Gorvagh, Co Leitrim
The death has occurred of Margaret (Rita) Doherty (nee Clancy) Garadice, Gorvagh, Mohill, Co Leitrim on Thursday, January 5th 2023, peacefully, at St. Patrick's Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon. Predeceased by her husband Michael, son Patsy, daughter Maura, daughter in law Mary, brothers Bill, James Eddie and Michael Joe. Rita will be so sadly missed and loved by her sons Oliver, Declan, Michael and John, daughters Teresa and Ursula, sons-in-law P.J, Martin and Barry, her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, wonderful friends and neighbours. Removal from her residence on Friday evening arriving at St. Mary's Church, Foxfield at 7 o'clock. Funeral mass on Saturday at 12 o'clock. Burial afterwards in Fenagh Abbey Cemetery. House private to family, relatives, neighbours and close friends.

Bridget Rooney, Dromod / Mullies, Co Leitrim
The death has occurred on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 of Bridget Rooney (nee O'Rourke) 14 Bofin Ave, Dromod and formerly of Lecknarainey, Mullies, Co. Leitrim. Peacefully in the care of Sligo University Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Packie (Roe) and son Brendan. Cherished and loved mother of Thomas, Pauric, Joseph and Desmond. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Reposing at Our Lady's Hospital Chapel, Manorhamilton on Monday evening, January 9th, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm with removal to the Church of the Annunciation, Mullies to arrive at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11am burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if so desired to the Irish Kidney Association, Leitrim Branch.

Seán Rynn, Arigna, Co Roscommon
Seán Rynn, Greaghnaleva, Arigna, Co. Roscommon, on Wednesday, January 4th 2023, peacefully, in the tender care of the staff at Sligo University Hospital. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Netta and sister Maura. Seán will be sadly missed by his loving sons, Harry, Joe, and Padraig, daughter Miriam, sister Anna,his cherished grandchildren Aoibhe, Cormac, Eoghan and Donnacha, daughter-in-law Fiona, son-in-law Tiago, Miriam’s partner Franco, brother-in-law Jim, nephew, niece, extended family, his many friends, former work colleagues and neighbours. May Seán’s gentle soul rest in peace.
Reposing at his residence on Friday evening from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Arigna, on Saturday to arrive for Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon, interment afterwards in Arigna Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to North West Hospice, the Mall, Sligo.

Joe Morrison, Drumsna, Co Leitrim
Joseph (Joe) Morrison, Belmount, Drumsna, Co Leitrim, assed away on Tuesday, 3rd January, peacefully. Sadly missed by his loving parents Eamon and Marian, sisters Maria and Rachael and brother Eamon, relatives and friends. Funeral mass on Friday at 12.00 noon, in the Church Immaculate Conception, Drumsna, followed by burial at Annaduff Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Pieta House.

Kathleen O'Brien, Drumkeerin, Co Leitrim
The death has occurred of Kathleen O'Brien, nee Cullen, Cloonagh, Drumkeerin, Co.Leitrim, unexpectedly at her residence. Pre-deceased by her sister Annabella. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband Kieran, son Danny (Killala); daughters Mary and Alice; grandchildren Elizabeth, John, Tommy, Mary Teresa, Alicia, Valentin and Geraldine; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Shane, Abbie, Jaxon and Kayla; brother Hughie; sisters Margaret and Rosemarie; sons in law Valentin and Raymond; daughter in law Sharon; sisters in law Margaret and Maura; brother in law Raymond; nieces; nephews; cousins; relatives and friends. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11.00am in St Brigid's Church, Drumkeerin, with burial to follow in Aughalaughey Cemetery.
 
Andrew Faughnan, Ballingarry, Co Limerick / Aughamore, Co Leitrim
Andrew Faughnan, Tiernahilla, Ballingarry, Co. Limerick and formerly of Fearnaught, Aughamore, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, suddenly but peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Christmas Day. Beloved husband of Sinéad Wall and wonderful father of Stephen, Ewan, Sam and Lily, father-in-law to Linh and grandad to baby Sean. Deeply regretted by his parents Vincent and Liz (née Daly), sisters Deirdre and Fiona, brothers-in-law Shane, Richard and Patrick, sister-in-law Jean, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and the community of Annaduff Parish in Co. Leitrim. Sadly missed by David and Brid Wall and extended family, neighbours and friends throughout the community of Knockaderry, Co. Limerick, sporting organisations in West Limerick and beyond, Limerick Council and a wide circle of friends. Reposing at O’Grady’s Funeral Home, Ballingarry (V94TW13) this Saturday evening, January 7th from 4pm to 6pm. Requiem Mass on Sunday, January 8th at 1pm in St. Munchin's Church, Knockaderry, followed by a private cremation. House private. Patsy Briody, Gowna, Co Cavan
Patrick (Patsy) Briody, Aughavains, Gowna, Co Cavan on Tuesday 3rd January 2023, suddenly at the Mater Private Hospital. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth, his daughter Kathleen Bouchier, daughter-in-law Margaret, brother Tom and sisters Rose Fitzpatrick and Bridgie Lee. Much loved father of Padraig, Seamus, Anna (McGahern), Thomas, Elizabeth (Shannon), Sean and Brendan, daughters-in-law Annemarie, Sheila, Patsie, Vera and Mags, sons-in-law; Mel, Pat and Aidan, brother Jimmy, sisters; Maureen and Kathleen, sister-in-law Nora, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and extended family members. Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home and Crematorium Cavan on Thursday, 5th January from 5.00pm-7.30pm. Arriving for Requiem mass on Friday, 6th January at 12pm to the Church Of The Holy Family, Loch Gowna, with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Margaret McLoughlin, Artane, Dublin / Dromahair, Co Leitrim
Margaret McLoughlin (née Dunleavy), Artane, Dublin and Dromahair, Co Leitrim on Sunday, 1st January, 2023, (peacefully), in the tender care of CareChoice Nursing Home, Malahide. Predeceased by her husband Seán and brother Frank and sister Caroline. Loving mother of Deirdre, Neil, Mark and Charles, doting grandmother of Daniel, Martha & Emily, Cathy, Luke & Sadhbh, Seán, Charlie and Bríd. She will be very sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Donna, Sharon and Marcella, Deirdre’s partner Doug, her sisters Rose and Anna, brothers-in-law Danny, Eamonn and Hugo, sisters-in-law Olive and Colette, her extended family and friends, especially Mary, Rita and Margo and all who knew her. Lying in repose in the Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand, Dublin 3 on Friday (6th January) from 5.00pm to 7.00pm. Removal to the Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Artane arriving for Funeral Mass on Saturday (7th January) at 11.00am, followed by burial in Malahide Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of flowers, in memory of Margaret, can be made to Merchants Quay Ireland.

Sheila Gray, Killeshandra, Co Cavan
Sheila Gray (Gray's Supermarket), Main Street, Killeshandra, Co Cavan, on Wednesday, 4th January 2023, peacefully in Esker Lodge Nursing Home. Predeceased by her husband Terry and daughter Imelda. Very deeply regretted by her son Tom, daughter Rosaire, grandson Turlough, daughter-in-law Catherine, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at McMahon's Funeral Home, Cavan on Friday, 6th January, from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral on Saturday in St. Brigid's Church, Killeshandra at 11am, followed by burial in adjoining cemetery. Donations, if desired, in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.
