More traffic calming measures needed in Keshcarrigan

Keshcarrigan

The village of Keshcarrigan needs further traffic calming measures due to the increase in traffic and vehicle speed, according to Cllr Brendan Barry.
The Sinn Féin councillor asked for slow down mechanisms on the Drumshanbo Road beside Ceis Laws and also on the Mohill Road beside the astro turf.

Leitrim County Council said the NTA did not approve their application for an Active Travel Scheme and any such measure could not occur on the Mohill road as it is narrow. A new application cannot be completed without willingness from the landowner to accommodate any scheme.
At the same meeting however, Cllr Barry complained about the speed ramp on the Keshcarrigan/ Fenagh road. He commented it is “very sharp” and unlike other ramps in the county. He said even going very slowly it is rough on a vehicle.
Council engineer Darragh O'Boyle responded “that is good news”, adding they (the ramps) were doing the job. He informed councillors if they want ramps that is the type they will get.

He said the speed cushions at Drumcong are due to be upgraded to speed ramps this year. Cllr Ellis supported Cllr Barry saying the ramps are “too narrow on top.” Mr O'Boyle conceded that he will take a look at the ramp.
