On next Friday week, 27 October, those with an interest in the Irish language in Leitrim are being invited to a Tionól Gaeilge in the Allen Gaels GAA clubhouse at Shane McGettigan Park in Drumshanbo starting at 7.00pm.
There is a great deal of interest and enthusiasm for the Irish language in the county at the moment, with two thriving Gaelscoileanna, Gaelscoil Liatroma i gCora Droma Rúisc and Gaelscoil Chluainín i gCluainín.
There are Ciorcail Chomhrá meeting in Ballinamore, Manorhamilton, Leitrim Village and Dromahair, with Irish classes at other centres.
Cumann na bhFiann run youth clubs through the medium of Irish in Drumshanbo and Ballinamore. There are branches of Conradh na Gaeilge in Ballinamore and Manorhamilton as well as Glór na nGael.
Ar an Aoine, 27 Deireadh Fómhair beidh daoine atá ag obair ar son na Gaeilge, agus daoine go bhfuil spéis acu sa Ghaeilge, at teacht le chéile chun cur chun na Gaeilge a phlé agus a spreagadh níos mó. Aon duine gur mhaith leo fhreastal ar an oíche, is féidir leo glaoch nó teacs ar Seán Ó Súilleabháin ag 087 6821566.
One of the things that will be highlighted is the need for a full-time Oifigeach Gaeilge to be employed by Leitrim County Council. For some time, the Irish language community in the county have been petitioning Leitrim County Council to appoint a full-time Oifigeach Gaeilge, but this still hasn’t yet happened.
Má tá spéis agat sa Ghaeilge, bígí linn ar an 27 Deireadh Fómhair i nDroim Seanbhó.
