Poetry Day Ireland 2024 and Eat the Storms, the poetry podcast, in association with Poetry Ireland and RTE Arts, will host an All-Ireland Poetic Relay Race on Thursday, April 25.
This special episode of the international podcast will feature 32 poets reading one poem to represent each of the 32 counties on the island of Ireland.
This year’s theme is Good Sports, and the episode will be on more than 12 platforms, including Spotify, Apple, Google, Pocketcast, Castbox & Podbean.
Kevin McManus from Carrigallen has been selected as the poet to represent Leitrim in this event. In 2021, he published a poetry collection entitled “The Hawthorn Tree” with Lapwing Publishers, Belfast.
A new edition of his first poetry collection called “Spirits in the Forest” is now available on Amazon and all other major online retailers.
He has also published poems in several international journals, including the London Grip, the Californian Catamaran, the Honest Ulsterman, the Fortnightly Review and the Galway Review.
In 2022, his poem “Lost Souls” was adapted into a short film and won the Blissfest film festival in Chicago.
Kevin has also published eight fiction novels, including his latest, Darkness at the Edge of Town, published by Book Hub. A third poetry collection, “A cold wind from the lake,” will be published this Summer.
