New all-weather play area approved for Leitrim primary school

Scoil Mhuire, Summerhill

Scoil Mhuire National School in Summerhill, Carrick-on-Shannon is set to enhance its facilities with the addition of a new all-weather play area. The schools Board of Management successfully submitted an application for the new addition which was approved by Leitrim County Council on August 19.

The proposed development includes the installation of an all-weather area, designed to ensure pupils can enjoy outdoor activity all year round. A perimeter fence will also be constructed, at a height of 1.20 metres.

It will be constructed to the rear of the primary school.

Carrick-on-Shannon Cllr Paddy Farrell has welcomed the planned new addition.

“I’m delighted for the school, the kids there do need somewhere to play and it’s badly needed, so I welcome it,” he remarked.

The new all-weather play area will be a valuable asset for Scoil Mhuire, providing pupils with a new and safe space that will be of benefit for years to come.
