Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams is to make his last visit to the Sligo-Leitrim constituency before he steps down as leader of the party.
Speaking in advance of the visit, Deputy Martin Kenny said, “Gerry Adams has visited Sligo and Leitrim countless times over the decades and has a great relationship with the people of the area and in turn the people of Sligo-Leitrim have great respect and admiration for Gerry Adams.
“This meeting in the Great Southern Hotel, Sligo on Thursday, December 7, at 8pm is an opportunity Gerry to thank all those who have supported him and Sinn Fein down through the years in good times and bad times.
“It’s also about where the party is now. Gerry has said he will continue to work for Irish unity in whatever role the party wants him to do and with our new leader Sinn Féin will continue to build on the work that Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness (RIP) have done in bringing us to where we are today.”
