Architects are telling Leitrim people not to bother submitting planning applications because they will not be passed.
That is according to North Leitrim Fianna Fáil Councillor Mary Bohan who said “I know two families who want to build outside Drumkeerin but the architect is saying don’t bother putting in planning.”
She said this is happening across the county and it is “putting people off applying” as they will incur the cost of the process even if the application fails.
Independent Councillor Gerry Dolan added that he knows two couples who have agreed to buy sites in his area costing €65,ooo and €55,ooo and they can’t go ahead with the deal as they can't get planning permission.
He commented, “a forestry pass does not comply with planning laws but a local is crucified.”
