Leitrim Councillor Mary Bohan, a campaigner for the No Vote has voiced her disappointed over the large margin between the sides.

Speaking from the Count Centre at the Clayon Hotel in Sligo this morning she said, although no Leitrim boxes have been opened yet, the tallies so far show 65% for the Yes side and 35% for the No side.

"The people have spoken and we have to accept the will of the people. We will now be holding the government to account. Both the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Health Minister Simon Harris have made a big point that this would be restricted abortion.

"Some of don't believe that will happen. Ireland is no different from any other country.. just look at the UK.

"But this is a democratic decision. All we can do now is hope that it is restricted."
