One man is in a stable condition in Cavan General Hospital while a second, listed as critical, has been transferred to Dublin for treatment, following a road traffic accident in Drumreilly overnight.
The Ballinamore to Newtowngore Road (R199) in south Leitrim has reopened this afternoon following the single vehicle collision.
The Leitrim Observer understands that four men, aged in their early 20s, were in the vehicle which left the road and struck a tree at Drumreilly, near Ballinamore, just before 11pm on Saturday, September 17.
All four occupants of the car were removed to Cavan General Hospital following the accident. Two were released earlier today after treatment, however the remaining two men sustained serious injuries in the accident and remain in hospital. One had undergone surgery at Cavan General and remains in a stable condition.
The fourth man is listed as critical and has been moved to Dublin for specialist treatment for his injuries.
Gardai have confirmed that three of the occupants of the car are from the Ballinamore area while the remaining man has been living in the UK but was home for the weekend.
More details as they come to hand.
