A Roscommon punter received a timely boost ahead of the Christmas shopping period when a €1 wager paid dividends in the best way possible this week.
The anonymous customer went into a BoyleSports shop on Wednesday and placed a simple €1 accumulator on four numbers coming out in the main Lotto draw that evening.
They needed all four numbers to land, but when 19, 24, 29 and 42 all dropped within the first six numbers, the customer had conquered odds of 7,500/1.
When their stake was returned along with the winnings, it saw them emerge with a grand total of €7,501.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said, "Hats off to our Roscommon customer who only required a small €1 investment to take us for €7,500; their ambition deserves all the rewards. They’ve bagged themselves a tidy sum of money at a great time of the year and we hope it helps with the preparations for Christmas."
