An Garda Síochána in Sligo-Leitrim is urging to the public to stay safe on roads this upcoming bank holiday weekend and to never drive under the influence.

Motorist caught drug driving in Leitrim town

A driver in Leitrim was stopped by local Gardaí on Wednesday, January 29 on suspicion of drug driving.

Gardaí from the Leitrim Policing Community stopped the vehicle in the Manorhamilton area, where the driver tested positive for cannabis. The individual was subsequently arrested, with court proceedings to follow.

An Garda Síochána in Sligo-Leitrim is urging the public to stay safe on roads as the February bank holiday weekend approaches.

They are reminding motorists to “please slow down, don't drive distracted, wear your seatbelt and never ever drive under the influence of an intoxicant.”
